my name is brittany. I like toast. so I created an instagram called @toastedtable to document all of my toasts way back when avocado toast wasn’t the reason millennials are renters-for-life (I know, seems like forever ago, right?!). In addition to toast, I make some other things, mostly Middle Eastern in nature to match my Syriac/Turkish/Syrian upbringing. Like dips! I really like dips. And bread! Bread’s cool.
I received a BA in psychology with minors in Business Administration & Economics from Georgetown University, where my love for food and restaurants really blossomed. I was the Editorial Director of Spoon University for 2 years, writing a lot, ideating a lot, and planning a lot. I started the GU Eating Society, an organization dedicated to learning about culture through cuisine and was the co-president for 2.5 years as well. The Eating Society was my baby, and we grew a lot together, and I got to meet so many incredible people in the food world and on campus because of it. Some things we did: met with chefs at culturally-inspired restaurants, held cooking demos, raised lots of $ for food-insecure populations in DC, & had a lot of fun.
I’ve moderated several food panels, from a Food Entrepreneurship panel with the CEO of CAVA to a Women in Food panel for the OWN It Summit. I’ve been published a few times for my writing, ranging from silly-fun pieces about labneh to historical essays on the Assyrian Genocide. I don’t know how to ride a bike, though. I blame my parents. (Just kidding! Love you two!)
I worked as an Assistant Buyer for a department store for a few years, and am currently pursuing my MBA at Harvard Business School.
Hope you enjoy my toasts & recipes & musings! Maybe one day I’ll come out with the book I’ve been working on for years, titled: “But How Much Cheese Is Too Much Cheese?”
